Vulcan Jewellery

Vulcan are a bespoke jewellery manufacturer that works only for the trade: jewellers, retailers and designers. Their website was a Shopify trade store with everything behind a registration wall, a catalogue, a cart, accounts and a VAT toggle. None of that matched how they actually sell. A jeweller comes to Vulcan with a job, anything from a re-tip to a piece made from nothing, and wants to know quickly whether Vulcan can do it and how to get it started.

So we replaced the store with an open site built in Astro. Seven service pages set out each kind of work, from CAD design and diamond setting to trade repairs, each setting out how the job runs, stage by stage. Trade reference guides cover wall thickness by finger size, weight conversion between metals, ring profiles, band patterns and engraving fonts, the tables a jeweller would otherwise keep pinned above the bench. The enquiry form takes a sketch, photo or CAD file with the job, so a quote can start from the first message.

Moving off Shopify could not cost the search history the old store had built up. Every one of its 1,103 known addresses now redirects to the page that best answers it, checked against the live domain with no wrong answers. Measured before launch, every page scored 100 for accessibility and SEO and 97 or more for speed on a phone, with no layout shift, and the homepage weighs a fraction of the competitor sites we measured. The site is light by default, with a dark mode the visitor can choose, and runs on Cloudflare.
