Property Maintenance
ABM Contracting carry out property maintenance and specialist damp and mould works for housing associations, and until recently ran the whole operation on paper. Job sheets were filled in on site and driven back to the office. Satisfaction forms went out by post, telephone surveys were logged on a printed sheet, and the only place a job’s profit existed was a spreadsheet. They had no website, no Google listing and no social media either.
We replaced the paper with a single Laravel platform, in daily use by the field team since September 2026. Three role-based portals sit behind one login, so an owner who runs the office and also takes field jobs works from one account. The field app works without signal: a worker fills in the job sheet, takes the photos and gets the tenant’s signature on the phone, and it all waits on the device until it can send, with protection against the same job being filed twice. In the office, a dashboard built around queues shows what needs attention, updating as sheets arrive.
Behind that runs the commercial chain the spreadsheet had been standing in for: quote, job, job sheet, invoice. Quotes are priced from over 7,000 codes in the client’s published schedules of rates and go out as PDFs on ABM’s letterhead, with a price-free copy for the team doing the work. Invoices prefill from the approved quote and the job’s recorded costs, then go to Xero as drafts, and payment status comes back on its own.
Alongside the platform we built ABM’s public website, abmcontracting.co.uk, live since September 2026: ten service pages illustrated with their own before-and-after work, a gallery, articles on Awaab’s Law, vacancies and an enquiry form that counts every enquiry. It scores 100 for accessibility, best practice and SEO, and Google indexed it the day after launch. We also set up and run ABM’s social media and Google Business Profile, create and post the content, and have started their lead generation.

Offline-First Field App
Workers complete job sheets on site with photos, costs, GPS and the tenant’s signature, with or without signal. Sheets and photos stay on the phone until they send, several can queue at once, and duplicate protection means a patchy connection never files the same job twice.
Three Portals, One Login
Field, office and survey portals share a single account system. People can hold any combination of roles and switch between portals in place, which suits an owner-operator who does more than one job.
Quoting & Price Book
Over 7,000 schedule-of-rates codes imported from the client’s published price books, with typeahead pricing, basket rates for full room refits and a flag on any line quoted away from the book price. Quotes go out as PDFs on ABM’s letterhead, with a price-free copy for the team on site.
Invoicing & Xero
Invoices prefill from approved quotes and the job’s recorded costs, then go to Xero as drafts, with payment status coming back automatically. The profit figure stays on the internal view, never on the copy the customer sees.
Surveys & Complaints
The paper satisfaction sheet became a per-job link with signature capture, and the telephone survey a call log the office works through, both gated on job value. Complaints get their own record, with a timeline, photos and an open or resolved state.
Accountability & Live Visibility
An append-only audit log records every office action with a field-level before and after, and the dashboard shows each queue that needs attention at a glance, updating as work comes in from the field.
